Triumph Street Triple R, renewal

The Street Triple in its more sporty version, known as the R, has been renewed. This model that turned the Daytona into a spectacular naked in 2009 leaves behind its characteristic round twin headlights and replaces them with pentagonal ones, derived from its bigger sister, the Speed Triple.

But the changes don’t stop there. It is the beginning of the modernization of this model, and although it takes some getting used to at first, since we have been seeing that aesthetic for many years, it quickly captivates you and sets your imagination flying at the thought of acquiring it as a new motorcycle…

But the guys at Triumph haven’t only changed the headlights; the exhaust finish is also new. As for the chassis, suspension and instrumentation, there are no changes. They are a direct inheritance of the Daytona 675, incorporating the digital information display that includes the engaged gear, fuel consumption or speed, among others.

Its riding position is aggressive for a naked, placing the weight of the body far forward, which, combined with high footpegs, lets you adopt a very sporty position, but not as tiring as on an RR. Its agility lets you enjoy the bends as much as or more than the city, since it is very comfortable to maneuver between cars.

The suspension can be easily adjusted by simply following the user manual, among three very distinct settings: soft, standard and sport. Its three-cylinder engine doesn’t bring many novelties, but it doesn’t need them. It responds quickly and well, and when you need to “give it some gas” you feel its 102 hp. Its gearbox is smooth and precise, which, together with economical consumption, makes this bike a true all-rounder.
