Husqvarna

Let's head to the countryside, Husqvarna Concept Baja

Husqvarna Baja is a restyling of another Concept, the MOAB, this time with an off-road character.

Just a few days ago at the International Motorcycle Shows (IMS) in New York, Husqvarna once again pulled the cover off one of those prototypes they jealously keep under wraps. It isn’t really a bike that has just arrived, since it’s quite similar to the Concept MOAB they presented at EICMA in Milan.

On that occasion they showed a motorcycle with road tires and upside-down forks, designed for a use similar to that of a supermoto.

Now, with taller forks and probably a bit more travel, this motorcycle arrives oriented toward off-road riding. Although these aren’t all the changes, the fundamental base of the bike is almost the same. Above all, what it does not lose is its retro touch, which recalls the ’50s to ’70s.

If we look closely, what most makes us think of off-road riding are the knobby tires, and if we look a little at the lower part of the motorcycle, we discover a skid plate. Likewise, another “country” touch is the fork protectors on the front suspension.

Husqvarna seems to be testing the waters a bit with its concepts, to see which market it can adapt its motorcycles to and where they are received with the greatest anticipation. On the other hand, they may also be thinking of presenting us with a motorcycle with several configurations, letting us see how, with small changes, we can go from one bike to another.

The braking system is designed by Brembo and consists of a front disc and a rear disc. In addition, the wheels are spoked, 19 inches at the front and 17 at the rear. The engine is that of a BMW, and displaces 650 cc, being a single-cylinder, four-stroke configuration, all held by a perimeter frame.

Its “headlights” are LED, and it also features an innovative bar with lights (also LED) on the handlebar, which, although we don’t know what function it is meant for, looks like it will light up as the revs increase.
