The KTM RC8 gets smoother without losing power
KTM keeps renewing its machines, and this time it's the turn of the RC8 superbike, which they have partly tamed by giving the engine a softer touch, one of the main complaints that had been raised about this bike.
The KTM brand keeps working on its models, and specifically they wanted to give some love to its RC8, since this bike managed to win the German IDM championship, one of the most demanding in terms of regulations.
So the Austrians decided to keep the basic line of the RC8, but optimising the feel of its engine and gearbox, the parts that had caused the motorcycle maker the most problems, supporting these changes with a review and optimisation of the suspension.
With these changes we have a bike with a smoother engine, not so harsh and ordinary, but smooth, one that is easy to ride and creates a special feeling on the RC8, making the KTM a good quality and value option compared to its closest rivals, since this mount costs less than 15,000 euros.
The secret of this modification lies in the gear selector and in increasing the distance between the dogs, and also in changing some aspects of the engine area, such as the crankshaft, ignition and injection.
An ideal motorcycle for both track and road, and one where another notch has been added by leaving it without traction control, showing that it may not be as necessary as we think, leaving in our hands a fun and very effective machine.
The RC8R has 170 hp, that is, 5 hp more than the previous version. The Austrians preferred to optimise all the resources of their RC8 and offer it at a reasonable price, instead of fitting traction control and other substantial improvements typical of track riding. A bike that looks more like a sportbike than a superbike, because it is so narrow, due to the configuration of its V-type and rigid engine, with a more docile character.
Perhaps it is not the best superbike on the market, but it is a great option given its quality and price, it is very easy to ride both on the road and on track, and not to forget the power, smoothness, accessories and wonders it hides inside and out.
A good option.
