The BMW S1000RR is renewed for 2012

If the BMW S1000RR was already a benchmark among superbikes, with the changes it will receive for 2012 it becomes a new benchmark in this type of motorcycle, improving in every aspect a bike that was already "almost perfect"

Two years after launching the spectacular S1000RR superbike, the German brand has decided it is time to give it a change and tune it to deliver its maximum in its natural environment, the racetrack.

To do so, BMW Motorrad has taken into account all the feedback provided by the various riders who compete with it in Superstock championships, both at world level and in national championships such as our CEV.

What does not change is its style. It remains as radical as before, but improving in handling and stability, while also equipping the Race ABS braking system and the DTC traction control system, in which the brand has refined its setup to achieve better combined performance.

The declared power is 193 hp, with a weight of 204 kg, so it does not vary much from the previous model. What they have worked on is delivering that power in a more linear way, improving acceleration and recovery.

As for the chassis, the configuration of the upside-down fork and the telescopic strut has been modified, which means the suspension can be adjusted more than ever, giving us a wide margin to find a comfortable or more sporty setting.

Also, the instrument panel has been modified, improving the readability of the tachometer and also allowing us to adjust the brightness of the display. Its track lap timer has also been improved, making it possible to know whether we have beaten our best lap. The “Speedwarning” is also included, which alerts us if we exceed a certain speed (ideal for pit-lane entries).

Otherwise, it also receives changes to its look, with a new design for the air intake box that features side fins which improve the motorcycle’s aerodynamics, which also makes this new model unmistakable. As for the available colours, BMW offers a combination of racing red with Alpine white, a Bluefire blue, or a sapphire black. Of course, you can also order it in BMW Motorrad’s competition colours.
