Marc Márquez closes the pole triplet with Moto2 at the GP Jerez

The Moto2 session has once again left Marc Márquez at the top of the standings. Now the race is going to be a different story, for sure, and nothing can be taken for granted.

After the qualifying day of Moto2 at the Jerez circuit, pole went to Marc Márquez, the championship leader. It was a complicated day, and it became even tougher when the final moments of qualifying arrived. Nerves, the humidity of the track and the desire to set times caused several crashes among the frontrunners.

This was the case for riders like Redding and Luthi, who went down with less than two minutes left while trying to set their best times. Throughout all the sessions, across the different categories, the difficulty the riders had to face was evident, with constant scares and complications.

Marc set a time of 1:43.005, with Nakagami and Pol Espargaró following very, very closely behind. What a leap forward Pol has made this year, although the big surprise is Nakagami, a rider we are not used to seeing at the front. Still, he was also up there in practice, and he seems to be very strong at this circuit.

Fourth place went to Thomas Luthi, who, despite his crash, had already set a great time that will let him start right behind Márquez tomorrow. He will surely be looking to shake off the disappointment of Qatar, so we will need to keep an eye on how the race unfolds. For his part, Tito Rabat managed to recover the pace he had not found in FP3. This will surely give him a lot of confidence heading into the race, and in this session he moved up several positions.

Little by little, another of our own, Toni Elías, is starting to post better times. Moto2 is no longer the category in which he became champion, and he needs to improve both the package that is his bike and himself to find his place again, back at the front.

Ricky Cadús seems to be improving his pace; he was twentieth, which shows the hard work the team is doing at Arguiñano Racing Team so that the AJR project improves every day.

Finally, Rodri 24th, Simón 25th, Pons 26th, Terol 28th and Elena 31st, riders who have not yet found the complete setup for their bikes. Simón suffered a crash at the start of the session, which prevented him from making the most of the time, but with his Suter he promises more competitiveness, and tomorrow he will go all in at the start.
