Honda CBR1000RR for 2012

Honda has leaked a photo gallery of the new Honda CBR1000RR that will hit the road next year. This new version seems to be nothing more than a simple modernization of the motorcycle’s styling.

This will surely disappoint many, since the Honda has not been renewed since 2008 and today, in the world of competition, it is a rather obsolete bike. Perhaps they just want to give us that impression now and keep developing it until next year to surprise us with something new.

The previous version had 175 hp and weighed 210 kg, a clear disadvantage against its direct rivals, the Aprilia RSV4, MV Agusta F4, BMW S1000RR and Ducati 1198, which were built with the philosophy of fitting a 1000cc engine into a 600 chassis (a Superbike in the body of a SuperSport). The Honda does not do this and keeps a rather large chassis.

What catches the eye most are the Showa suspensions with screw-type adjustment, both front and rear. Also, from the photographs we gather that ABS will be optional, since the available photos show that it doesn’t have it.

Radial-mount brakes, as it could not be otherwise, larger-diameter front forks, a short exhaust pipe, new air intakes, are some of the most notable changes.

Enjoy the gallery, dream about this motorcycle, which, although apparently not the best in its segment (far from it), is still a great motorcycle.
