New 2013 Harley-Davidson Breakout
Harley-Davidson presents its 2013 version of the Breakout, a true motorcycle from the American brand that will meet the needs of passionate riders: a special, spectacular machine, a Harley-Davidson.
The Harley-Davidson brand has introduced a new model for 2013: the Breakout, a true city brawler that will keep you noticed every single second, and that is ready to meet all of your riding needs.
It is a first-class model in its segment, characterized by different finishes and components you won’t find on other Harley-Davidson motorcycles. It is long and low-slung, mounts a 240 mm rear tire balanced by a thick fork and trimmed fenders, while the sharp lines of the tank console and its dragster-style handlebar accentuate its low profile. A Twin Cam 103™ engine and other components feature a gleaming chrome finish and gloss black paint.
The new Breakout has smooth, compact lines that make the engine and tires stand out from the rest of the design, with a hard, strong, muscular image. The Gasser wheels are new and specific to this model; each rim has 10 semicircular spokes. The gloss black powder-coated finish is machined on alternating spokes and along the rim profile to reveal the aluminum beneath the paint.
The gloss black finish is also applied to the new cast aluminum oil tank, as well as the fork legs, brake discs, exhaust shields and handlebar. The Softail chassis mimics the minimalist lines of an old hardtail frame, but features a rear suspension with shocks mounted horizontally beneath the frame tubes and hidden from view. The Breakout is fitted with ABS (anti-lock braking system) brakes and the factory Harley-Davidson alarm system. The Twin Cam 103B engine, with 103 cid (1690 cc), balance shafts and rigid mounting to the frame, produces 130 Nm at 3000 rpm. The engine features sequential electronic fuel injection (ESPFI), an automatic compression release (ACR) and a 6-speed Cruise Drive transmission.
The front and rear fenders are trimmed. The front fender mount and placement are exclusive to the Breakout. The shape and placement of the rear fender allow it to fit as closely as possible to the 240 mm tire. The one-piece forged aluminum rear fender is finely polished. The front end incorporates a fork approximately 49 mm wider than previous FX Softail models, allowing for a 130 mm front tire. The fork legs and headlight housing are finished in gloss black.
The two-piece two-seat rear section can be removed without tools for solo riding, and when detached it reveals the rear fender. The seat height is 24.7″. The all-new wide dragster-style handlebar features a gloss black finish. The speedometer is mounted on the chrome retro-style handlebar riser. The discreet low-mounted center license plate and the combination of taillights, brake lights and turn signals give the wide rear fender a clean look.
The solid colors available are Vivid Black, Big Blue Pearl and Ember Red Sunglo. The standard new BREAKOUT is available in two tones and can be purchased starting at 22,600 euros.
