TEAM HRC returned to the Rally Dakar in January 2013 for the first time in 24 years, and did so with a prototype of the CRF450 RALLY based on the commercial competition model CRF450X, the enduro model from Honda. The Rally Dakar 2013 generated valuable information in key areas such as engine power, aerodynamic performance, durability and maintenance requirements, which was used as a basis for subsequent design modifications and improvements.
Following this information, the new resulting CRF450 RALLY model retains the fuel injection program (PGM-FI), an electronic fuel injection system that has proven its performance in the severe and highly variable environmental conditions of the Rally Dakar. The new CRF450 RALLY will be used by TEAM HRC and will be made available to other teams as a production rally bike during 2014.
TEAM HRC will take part in the Rally Morocco 2013, starting next October 13, with the CRF450 RALLY, using the same combination of five riders and five bikes planned for the Rally Dakar 2014. The tests under current race conditions are expected to provide useful information for later improvements.
The new Honda model is interesting; we will see what it can do in the next events and especially in the next edition of the Dakar.
Don’t miss the presentation video of this spectacular machine.
