Day 2 of the MotoGP CRT test at Motorland Aragón
The riders of the MotoGP CRT World Championship have finished their private test today at the Motorland Aragón Circuit, where they were able to ride a little more today, although the conditions have been difficult.
Today saw the second day of training for the MotoGP CRT World Championship at the Motorland Aragón Circuit, where the wind was not as strong and we were able to see the five riders taking part in this test out on track, so fortunately they were able to get some work done, although not all they wanted.
Luckily the weather conditions improved, especially in the afternoon, when they took the opportunity to go out and ride their respective 1000cc bikes, although the wind remained the main protagonist, as did the low temperatures recorded on the Motorland track.
In the morning session, the first rider out was Yonny Hernández, followed shortly after by his teammate at Avintia Racing, Iván Silva, both working flat out to keep improving their respective BQR-FTR bikes ahead of the start of the season in Qatar. It wasn’t until 13:00 that we saw the men of Power Electronics Aspar in their colours riding at Motorland Aragón for the first time, first Aleix Espargaró and then Randy de Puniet, although both rode very little on this first outing.
In the afternoon conditions improved, and both De Puniet and Espargaró were able to work a little more: the Frenchman focused on ergonomics, while our number 41 also practised starts, an important factor for starting each race from as far up the grid as possible. The Avintia riders also returned to the track, with Silva setting a 1:53.373, while Yonny closed the day with a 1:53.588.
The negative side of the day was for James Ellison of Paul Bird Motorsport, who suffered a fairly heavy highside crash before the lunch break, which ruled him out for the rest of the test at Motorland. Fortunately, it seems the rider has not suffered any serious physical consequences.
Now the CRTs face their big challenge, the IRTA test in Jerez at the end of the week, where they will be seen alongside the rest of the CRTs and the MotoGP bikes, and it is there that we will see the real differences, and above all in Qatar.
