Aprilia SRV 850, the most powerful scooter in the world

Aprilia has decided to join the maxi-scooter group, just as BMW have done with the famous C 650 GT and C 600 Sport. All of this in an attempt to wrest the top sales position from Yamaha and its T-MAX. To do so, both brands first set their initial target at more power than the rival company offers, and then each worked in different directions.

In the case of Aprilia, which is the one that concerns us today, they have worked on making the most powerful megascooter in the world, and to do so it carries an engine of no less than 839.3 cc, a very high figure compared to the competition.

With this displacement it achieves a power output of 76 CV at 7,750 rpm, and a maximum torque of 76.4 Nm, when the tachometer reaches 6,000. This engine, a 90º V-configuration twin, has been optimized with the installation of a double spark plug to ensure ignition of the mixture, and also with a double lambda sensor, which ensures a better air-fuel mixture. To further enhance this engine, a counter-rotating crankshaft direction has been chosen, minimizing the inertia transmitted by the overall scooter.

Its chassis was designed for a bike that is stable at high speeds; according to its own calculations, it achieves twice the stability of other scooters. This is achieved by being rigid, which is why a double cradle of steel tubes has been built, holding the engine from above, a system called trellis. In addition, excellent handling has been achieved, allowing it to lean up to 45º. As for the swingarm, it is made of aluminum, giving the whole a total weight of 249 kg.

On the other hand, the instrumentation is very clear, with an LCD screen and several analog gauges. As the crowning touch of this scooter, its styling has been taken directly from the RSV4, having the look of a very sporty bike but with the riding position of a scooter; in short, a revolutionary scooter.
