Viñales the fastest in FP1 at Motorland
After FP1, the home riders are already very close to the front. We will see how the times develop in the next sessions.
The Girona rider, Maverick Viñales, after many races on tracks he doesn’t know, can finally measure himself on practically equal terms. Aragón is a track he already knows from the Spanish Championship, and that was noticeable this morning.
Maverick managed to take the top spot from Terol, with the chequered flag already out. He was the only rider able to go under 2:01, but it’s clear that Nico is not far behind. His time was 2:00.897, Terol’s 2:01.163, and to close out the top three, Kent with 2:01.547.
Terol was the one who held the top position for the most time, only briefly did Mavck himself, Zarco and Alberto Moncayo take that position from him.
Moncayo also looks very strong§h11× at this track. He finished sixth, but on the last lap he was improving. A pass by Sandro Cortese forced him to run wide, losing all his advantage.
We are confident that many of ours will be occupying the front positions§h13× this weekend. It’s a home circuit and none of them want to let slip the chance to get a good result in front of their own fans. For example, we expect Efrén and Faubel to fight in the upcoming sessions too.
The newcomers were Josep Rodríguez (16th)§h15× who replaces Sergio Gadea as Maverick Viñales’ teammate, and he has done very well, placing 16th. Also Pedro Rodríguez (30th)§h17× Ana Carrasco’s teammate in the CEV, is doing a wildcard here, and the Aragonese rider is doing very well in his debut.
Maverick Viñales (#25)
Here at Motorland we already have the setup done, we just need to make some small adjustments. My idea here has been to go out at one hundred percent from the very first moment. The truth is I struggle a bit in the slow section, then I improve in the fast corners and take advantage. We need to work on T2 and T3, the track was very dirty and the bike kept sliding.
I changed helmet because I have signed with WildWolf, I really like it, it looks aggressive, which is what I like. I want to thank them for their support.
The top ten were:
- Mavercik
- Terol
- Kent
- Vázquez
- Zarco
- Moncayo
- Cortese
- Oliveira
- Faubel
- Iwema
