Victory for Márquez in Moto2 Assen, Pol ends up on the ground
A tough race for Pol Espargaró, who sees how he loses points in the championship standings. Marc Márquez wins after a hard fight with Iannone.
Today’s race was once again one of those that never stops being exciting lap after lap. Right from the start we saw Pol Espargaró go down on the very same bump where other riders have crashed throughout the weekend. The drive to have more pace than the rest, only matched by Marc Márquez, made him push too hard in the first lap and rush into the damage on the track. Furthermore, the fairly quick crash caused his bike to be wrecked, so he could not return to the track.
At that moment it seemed that Marc, who was riding between fourth and fifth, could relax, since Thomas Luthi had also crashed. But nothing could be further from the truth: this was the day to take risks to the very end, and after a great battle with Andrea Iannone he managed to take the win, and a well-deserved one, delivering the spectacle he has accustomed us to.
Andrea gave everything until the end, constantly trying to get ahead of the Catalunya Caixa Repsol bike, but the heavy tyre wear that his size forces on him made it a little harder to go wheel to wheel with him, so the Italian finished second.
Behind them, Redding, who also suffers a lot with his tyres but has two consecutive podiums in the championship, and who in the early stages of the race is always found battling with the front runners.
Another of today’s surprises was seeing Tito Rabat finish fourth, who has put together a devastating second half of the race and just narrowly missed the podium. After the crashes of Axel and Pol, mentioned earlier, he was the one carrying the Pons team on his shoulders, and he did a great job.
Toni Elías keeps climbing up the order; today he finished ninth, taking seven points, but what really matters to the rider from Manresa is to fight for races again. So much so that the Aspar team is considering some changes to become more competitive.
Julito Simón fourteenth, mid-table, having to battle with a crowd of riders that make it very hard to climb up, but he finished the race very well, especially from that position after starting twenty-third. So let’s hope this moment fills him with strength and he gains the confidence that will bring him back to the front.

Elena Rosell once again delivers in another GP: she completed every lap and brought her bike back to the garage. Little by little she is completing stages and gaining experience.
