The Yamalube Folch Endurance team wins the 24 Hours of Catalunya Motorcycling

The past weekend the 24 Hours of Catalunya Motorcycling took place, one of the most legendary endurance races on the Catalan circuit, with the Yamalube Folch Endurance team as the big winner of this edition, achieving its ninth victory in this competition.

More than 15,000 fans came to the Catalan track to experience one of the most interesting, legendary and special races held at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. The team from Reus achieved its ninth victory riding its Yamaha YZF R-1, with the riders making up this team being Arturo Tizón, Pedro Luis Vallcaneras, Antonio José Alarcos and Alejandro Martínez.

But they were not alone on the podium: their teammates Andreu Esteve, Óscar Manuel Amado, Albert Santamaría and Alejandro Rubio finished in third position, while second place in this edition went to the Honda Endurance Racing team, a squad from the World Endurance Championship.

The disappointment of this edition was the incident involving the Suzuki Català team, since, just as in its previous participation, it had to retire with the end of the race not far off. This time we saw a spectacular accident that led to the safety car being deployed. The rider involved was Lucas de Carolis, fortunately unhurt physically, but the bike was wrecked and burned out, forcing the team to retire.

We also saw how one of the favourites, the Honda Endurance Racing team, which had taken the lead after the accident involving the Suzuki Català team, was affected by a mechanical problem. This forced the team to make more pit stops to fix the technical issues, which meant they lost a lot of time and were overtaken by Yamalube Folch Endurance.

So they took the lead with 6 hours remaining until the end, and from that moment on they made not a single mistake, maintaining their pace and consistency, completing a total of 751 laps, which surpasses the 746 of 2013 and sets a new race record.

Fourth place went to the Monlau Repsol Technical School, with Joan Zamorano, Enric Saurí, Marc Creu and Massimiliano Chetry. In fifth place, Tecmas Endurance crossed the finish line on a BMW S1000RR ridden by the French riders Dominique Platet, Clive Rambure, Camille Hedellin and Nicolas Senechal.
