The Ciao Marco by Rossi, Pasini, Dovi and Lorenzo
Rider Marco Simoncelli received, in his farewell, some of his grid colleagues, as well as many faces from the World Championship, among them Jorge Lorenzo, Valentino Rossi, Mattia Pasini and Andrea Dovizioso.
Many riders and members of the World Motorcycle Championship gathered yesterday in Coriano to say goodbye to Marco Simoncelli in his home town, in front of his people and in his final farewell. Among them, those who drew the most attention were Valentino Rossi, Jorge Lorenzo and Mattia Pasini.
The 58 was a fighter, and had great battles with many riders but who doesn’t remember his fights with his friend Pasini in the intermediate class… well, the 75 hasn’t forgotten them either, and wanted to remember his friend Sic with a nice tattoo on his wrist, saying that it is the best spot, since that way, whenever he waves, everyone will remember SuperPippo.
Another moment awaited was the reaction of Valentino Rossi, the great friend of Sic, the big brother of the 58 who had to bid him farewell, and who was in charge of carrying the Honda Gresini out of the church at the end of the ceremony. Rossi wrote in SIC’s book: Cazzo mi manchi… (damn, I miss you…).
Nor did one of his biggest rivals miss the event, Andrea Dovizioso, who wrote for Simoncelli: Mi hai sempre spronato ad andare più forte (you always encouraged me to go faster/harder).
And of course, the arrival of Jorge Lorenzo was one of the most anticipated. The 2010 MotoGP world champion landed and was welcomed with applause and much affection in Italy. Without a doubt, at this moment their disagreements with Sic are beside the point; now what matters is the 58. That is why the Yamaha rider wrote: I will always remember you. Sorry for having argued with you. 99.
Many gestures, many glances and one goodbye.
