SYM presents the Symphony ST 125

The SYM brand has unveiled more scooter launches planned for 2015 at the 72nd edition of the Milan Motorcycle Show. If at the Intermot show we saw the new SYM Joymax Sport, in Milan the SYM Symphony ST 125 has been unveiled, a very cutting-edge "bridging" scooter.

symphony st 125The SYM brand has unveiled more scooter launches planned for 2015 at the 72nd edition of the Milan Motorcycle Show. If at the Intermot show we saw the new SYM Joymax Sport, in Milan the SYM Symphony ST 125 has been unveiled, a very cutting-edge “bridging” scooter.

2014 has been a special year for SYM due to the celebration of its 60th anniversary, which has brought a substantial expansion of its range, from the Maxsym 600i ABS, the “vintage” Fiddle scooter, HD 2 and Citycom 300 CBS -both with integral braking system-, Joymax Sport -with Stop & Start function-, Wolf 300 Classic and Café Racer, to this new Symphony, which is now being presented at EICMA.

The SYM Symphony ST joins the current Symphony S, LX, SR Top and SR Sport. It provides a more powerful engine and its design is particularly eye-catching. To define its style, its designers opted for clean lines and extended lines with sharp edges. Compared to the current SYM Symphony, the bodywork is more enveloping and incorporates ingenious solutions, such as the use of “winker bumpers” protections on the sides of the bodywork.

The front of the new Symphony is very striking, with oblique lines framing its “V”-shaped trim, the headlight centred on the handlebar, and even influencing the angular shapes of the mirrors. Its finish is enriched by the use of two-tone colours on the fairings and “side covers”, matching the upholstery. The greater width of the shield, besides providing better protection, creates more space for the glove box.

The headlights are another element that has evolved the most, with a new concave front optic and the use of LED diodes for the rear light and daytime running light. The instrumentation has a modern design, with a single round dial that integrates a striking speedometer with large digits. Like the whole Symphony family, under the seat there is room for a “full size” helmet -something unusual in this type of scooter- with a USB-type electrical socket, an ignition switch acting as the vehicle’s anti-theft system, fold-down rear footrests and a new fuel tank with a capacity of 7.5 litres.

The new Symphony ST 125 debuts a completely new engine, with which engineers have achieved significant improvements in emission reduction, noise and greater electronic efficiency of its solid-state circuitry. Its power increases by an additional 1 kW, up to 7.3 kW at 8,500 rpm. SYM is widely known as the only motorcycle manufacturer that applies ceramic treatment to the cylinder surface across all its production, which provides greater thermal stability and more precise engine operation.

The chassis features new alloy wheels with five “double” V-shaped spokes. The brake discs increase their diameter from 226 to 260 mm, together with parallel double-piston calipers.
