Spies and Lorenzo make the most of a complicated day at Sepang

The Yamaha riders dominated the second pre-season training session of the MotoGP World Championship at the Sepang Circuit, with Ben Spies as the benchmark rider, followed by his teammate Jorge Lorenzo just 0.008s behind, and then the two Tech3 riders, Andrea Dovizioso and Cal Crutchlow.

A day marked by the torrential rain that fell on the Malaysian track, but seen from its positive side, it allowed the riders to test their new 1000cc Yamaha M1s in wet conditions, so they were able to test their machines in water, and it seems the sensations have been good.
Car 11 concentrated on this training day mainly on the Yamaha setup in wet and dry conditions, while car 99 worked on refining the power delivery. Tomorrow will be the last test day at the Sepang track, so it’s time to tie up some loose ends, on days when work has also been largely limited by the weather.

Statements from Jorge Lorenzo – 2.01.293:

Today we improved a small connection between the throttle and the engine; now it is much smoother and easier to ride, a big step forward from yesterday.

We were able to test the 1000cc M1 in the wet for the first time, and we were quite fast, so it has been a positive day and we are very motivated to improve the bike.

We managed to complete everything we wanted to test, so it has been a good test.
