Presentation of the Ducati GP12 with Rossi and Hayden
Ducati riders Valentino Rossi and Nicky Hayden attended the unveiling of their GP12, the bike they will have to fight with this 2012 MotoGP season.
Today we were able to watch the online presentation of Ducati’s new machine for the upcoming 2012 season, the Desmosedici GP12 with which Valentino Rossi and Nicky Hayden will have to fight in the MotoGP World Championship.
The live connection was followed by more than 95,000 people, so many people saw the new GP12, its new colours, its specifications and its riders talking about this coming World Championship campaign and their MotoGPs.
Aesthetically, it is quite similar to the bike we saw at the Sepang test; perhaps it is whiter and less red, with that unmistakable Italian touch of the tricolour. However, the really important aspects are others, some of which Preziosi explained today. In particular, he confirmed that the angle has not changed and is still 90º V, just like the engines of all Ducati competition and road bikes, and that the displacement will be 1000cc, no less, as had been rumoured.
Without a doubt, the Italian brand is working hard to improve on the problems they have. They tried things in Malaysia, but it will not be until Jerez that they can truly keep working on the GP12 with their official riders, and thus try to arrive as well as possible at the first real race, the Qatar Grand Prix on 8 April.
So we already have the unveiling of the Ducati GP12. For now there is not much information, just that colour change and Preziosi’s confirmation, but they look like they are hiding more details.
Now comes the big question: will they manage to keep up with the Honda and the Yamaha?
Don’t miss the presentation video.
