Marco Simoncelli: "It is not fair that a black legend is being created about me"
Rider Marco Simoncelli is once again at the center of the storm. Undoubtedly, his statements, interviews, press conferences and movements are being scrutinized, and one more step was taken yesterday at the official press conference ahead of the Italian Grand Prix.
Simoncelli is not going through his best moment in his relationship with some riders, especially with Jorge Lorenzo and Dani Pedrosa, with whom he has had clashes, the latest being yesterday with the Catalan upon his return to the World Championship after three races out.
Simoncelli’s statements:
A month and a half has passed since Le Mans and three races. When two people have a problem between them, the best thing is to talk.
When I arrived here and saw him, I went to shake his hand and he refused the greeting.
When the press conference began, Pedrosa said a few words to the Italian, and he replied to the Catalan:
As a person, when he and his manager say stupid things, a month and a half later, it’s not worth even talking about it, not even coolly.
Regarding the comment from the 26 about only having hair in his head, the Italian said:
I think he should think for himself and I will think for myself. He has his problems and I have mine.
He also commented on his black legend:
Yes, it’s happening, but it’s not fair that a black legend is created just because I have made some mistakes.
The first one who doesn’t want to make mistakes is me, because the first one who ruins his races is me.
I have seen that the Spanish press has written things with a translation error. First they should read the entire interview and then have a good translator translate it.
From now on, what he wants is to focus on the race and leave the rest aside, especially at this event at home, on his track and in front of his public.
The home Grand Prix can be the occasion to get a good result. We must stop talking and do what I like most, which is riding motorcycles.
I must learn from my mistakes. I will seek not to repeat the Assen error because I have understood it well. Pay attention to the cold tyres and then try to go for it.
At Le Mans I was wrong and I will seek not to repeat it and to do it correctly, even though some may think otherwise.
