Rider Marc Márquez has been injured while training, without a doubt 2015 is turning out to be extremely complicated and very unlucky for him. Apparently, Marc has fractured the fifth metacarpal of his left hand while training mountain biking with his brother Álex Márquez in Lleida.

Because of this injury he has had to go back to the operating room, where he was operated on by Dr. Xavier Mir, Head of the Hand and Upper Limb Pathology Unit at the Quirón Dexeus University Hospital. The fracture was successfully treated, and he will travel to Japan with the intention of taking part in the next round of the 2015 MotoGP World Championship.

Without a doubt, this season has brought many complications, since Márquez already had to go under the knife earlier this season due to a fracture of the little finger on his left hand, which occurred while practicing dirt track before the Spanish Grand Prix.

The Spanish rider will travel to Japan with the intention of taking part in the Motul Japanese Grand Prix on October 11, but we will have to see how his recovery progresses and what the doctors decide when they examine Márquez before practice.

Statements from Doctor Xavier Mir:

We have operated on Marc Márquez for a long spiral fracture of the fifth metacarpal of the left hand. The surgery consisted of a reduction and internal fixation using compression screws and a six-hole titanium neutralization plate. The soft tissues were then closed, and a protective bandage was applied with a splint securing him to the adjacent finger –a syndactyly–. He will remain hospitalized for 24 hours, and functional rehabilitation will begin at 48 hours.
