Lorenzo takes the lead on day 2 of the MotoGP test at Sepang

The MotoGP World Championship held its second session of test 2 today at the Sepang Circuit, where Spanish dominance remains evident. On this occasion, however, the reigning world champion, Jorge Lorenzo, took the lead, setting a very interesting time and leaving Pedrosa almost four tenths behind. Now we will see what they can do tomorrow on the final day.

Rider Jorge Lorenzo set the best time of this second day of the MotoGP World Championship test at the Sepang Circuit. The Mallorcan recorded a lap of 2:00.282, just ahead of his main rival, Dani Pedrosa, although the Catalan finished 0.369s behind. The 99 has become serious in this second session on the Malaysian track.

Lorenzo completed around 58 laps of Sepang, so he worked at full capacity on his Yamaha, and saw Pedrosa drop to 2nd for the first time in these MotoGP tests. The world champion thus managed to break the dominance imposed by the 26 in the previous days. Another surprise of the day was the performance of Cal Crutchlow. The Yamahas seem to have come back to life, and while yesterday we had a very Honda day, today we saw the M1s improve, with the Briton taking third place, 0.625s behind the leader.

Completing the top 5 were Marc Márquez in 4th, the last rider on the grid to get under 2:01, so good feelings for the Catalan, who remains the fastest rookie, finishing 0.710s behind Lorenzo on this second day. Meanwhile, fifth place went to Valentino Rossi, who saw other Yamahas get past him.

The top 10 of the day was completed by Bautista in 6th, improving with the new parts he is testing; Bradl 7th, Hayden 8th, Dovi 9th and Smith 10th. The factory Ducatis seem to have improved today, since they did not have as much pace on the first day. We will see what they can do tomorrow. 11th place went to Iannone, who also had better feelings today, followed by the best CRT once again, our own Aleix Espargaró on the ART, followed by Pirro 13th, Nakasuga 14th, Yoshikawa 15th, Barberá 16th, Spies 17th, De Puniet 18th, Aoyama 19th, Petrucci 20th, Abraham 21st, Takahashi 22nd, Edwards 23rd, Hernández 24th, Corti 25th, Staring 26th, Pesek 27th and Laverty 28th.
