The Kawasaki brand has presented a new model, the Vulcan S. In 2015, a completely new model joins the Kawasaki model range, the Vulcan S, completing the Vulcan family with a middleweight motorcycle with a unique style.
The new Vulcan S will make its first public appearance at the Milan show, on November 4th. The Vulcan S is definitely not just another custom motorcycle; it brings an innovative approach with a unique look, a low riding position and an unmistakably urban personality. At the heart of the Vulcan S is the already proven 649cc twin-cylinder engine, previously tested in the Versys 650 and ER6n/f, now re-tuned for a fundamentally different character.
This engine shows its muscle by pushing hard in the low and mid rev range, yet it remains an easy-to-ride engine suitable for all types of riders. Newcomers to the world of two wheels will particularly appreciate the engine configuration, which makes the Vulcan S easy to master. The performance of the Vulcan S is enviable; the brakes also ensure safe and smooth stopping power, with a 300 mm disc at the front, gripped by a two-piston caliper, while the rear wheel features a 250 mm disc and a single-piston caliper. In addition, a version with state-of-the-art ABS will be offered as an option.
A rear suspension with a single shock absorber complements the motorcycle’s style with a linkage system that allows longer travel for greater comfort. The rear suspension layout also contributes to the bike’s compact design, freeing up space for a large-volume silencer beneath the engine.
The rear suspension offers adjustable preload settings, with 7 positions to suit the rider’s weight and load. Comfort comes first, and the telescopic front fork contributes to excellent handling.
The low seat height makes this motorcycle comfortable and accessible for any rider, man or woman, making the constant starting and stopping in the city an easy and simple maneuver. A narrow frame helps riders place both feet flat on the ground very easily, while the seat offers very good hip support. The long wheelbase, low centre of gravity and centralised mass provide great stability and easy manoeuvrability.
Interestingly, one of the notable features of the new Vulcan S is the new footpegs, which are adjustable in 3 positions so the rider can customise the motorcycle according to their measurements and personal preferences. In addition, both the brake and clutch levers are adjustable.
With an urban approach characterised by its long, low design, along with elements such as the modern headlight design and cast wheels, the Vulcan S introduces a non-traditional style.
