Jorge Martín takes the Moto3 pole position at the Le Mans Circuit
Rider Jorge Martín has taken the Moto3 pole at Le Mans

The Moto3 World Championship was the first to hit the Le Mans track, in France, to contest the fight for the World Championship pole position, so there was maximum anticipation for this outing on the circuit by the smallest category.
The first few minutes were interesting, with Arón Canet looking very strong, taking the first position and holding it for much of the session, while the rest of the rivals were feeling out their lap times and working toward the end of the session.
The riders have been testing and working on setup, and in the closing action of the official session, with 15 minutes to go the important battle for pole position began: Di Giannantonio went past Canet to lead and set an interesting time.
With 9 minutes left the action became “intense”, with Ramírez, Bastianini, Di Giannantonio, Arenas and the rest of the top-10 rivals all sitting within just 0.7s, so everyone was very close and waiting for the final all-out attack and a tow that would give them that extra edge in the fight for pole position at this French round.
In the final attack, with 1 minute left, Jorge Martín moved into first position, with a time of 1:42.039, a surprise from the 88, since the Madrid rider did not seem to have much feeling at this French circuit. In the end, nobody could beat the Spanish rider’s time, and he has taken yet another pole position for his record. Behind him on the front row of the grid was Kornfeil, 0.123s off the leader, and Bastianini 3rd, 0.124s off the leader, so the gaps were very tight.
The top 10 was completed with Canet 4th, Ramírez 5th, Arenas 6th, Bezzecchi 7th, Antonelli 8th, Di Giannantonio 9th and Migno 10th. Although Canet finished 4th, because he has to serve the penalty for his incident in Jerez, the young rider will have to start last in the race, so the rest of the riders will each move up one position.
Maximum anticipation at Le Mans.
