Iván Silva bets on Inmotec and scores in MotoGP Jerez
Rider Iván Silva scored his first point in the MotoGP World Championship at the Jerez Circuit last Sunday, also with his bet on Inmotec, so there is a lot of news for the 22.
Last weekend at the Spanish MotoGP Grand Prix we witnessed a historic moment that went somewhat unnoticed and that we cannot forget: rider Iván Silva, with his CRT, scored his first point in the category, and not only that, but he did so with the Inmotec chassis version, a great step forward toward having a Spanish-brand MotoGP bike.
After a few difficult days due to the weather and track conditions, on Sunday Silva decided to take the big step and bet on the novelty he had announced together with his team for the Jerez Circuit: the Inmotec carbon fiber chassis, leaving aside for now the evolution of the FTR, and finishing in a commendable 15th place, which marked his first point in MotoGP 2012.
The start of the race was not easy: the 22 lost several positions, but little by little he recovered, overtaking rivals and making progress, and he finally crossed the finish line in the points zone. But points are not the only thing that matters: both the team and the rider have gathered data and feedback with the Inmotec. Now we will see what happens at the Portuguese Grand Prix, whether he decides to continue with this new version of his CRT or backtrack to the FTR, although in his statements he comments that Yonny will be in charge of developing the FTR, so it seems he is going to focus on the Spanish machine.
Statements from Iván Silva:
We have decided to race with the Inmotec to continue its development while Yonny focuses on the FTR. I think it is a good way to work and that it is positive for the team.
We do not yet have the electronics at the right point and, in today’s conditions, it has been very difficult to be fast. It was a “long” race and physically demanding. Still, scoring points on a debut bike is very positive for me and for the team.
