Elías and Terol improving times and feelings in Jerez

The Team Aspar riders for the Moto2 World Championship, Toni Elías and Nico Terol, kept working at full throttle on the second day of testing at the Jerez circuit, and little by little they are improving.

Yesterday the Team Aspar riders, Nico Terol and Toni Elías, kept working at full throttle on their Moto2 for next season. You can see that they are making progress little by little and adapting to the intermediate displacement of the championship.

Therefore, Terol and Elías are making the most of every minute of what is supposedly the last Moto2 test at the Jerez track. Moreover, track conditions were once again excellent, so they were able to ride their machines without problems.

Rider Nico Terol is taking small but constant steps forward, cutting four tenths off yesterday’s lap time and setting a time of 1:44.5. He worked mainly on the chassis to achieve greater torsional stiffness in the corners, but he also continued learning how to manage and set up engine braking.

Meanwhile, Toni Elías kept riding and riding. He wants to adapt as quickly as possible to his new machine, and he was one of the most active riders throughout the day at Jerez, focusing his efforts mainly on geometry.

Statements from Nico Terol:

Today I did quite a few more laps than yesterday, and we tested clutch and engine braking management. The aim is none other than to keep adapting to the four-stroke bikes. After what we tried today, the bike slides a little more and is more fun.

We also played a lot with the chassis, to see if we could make it turn better and, as yesterday, we looked for new solutions to achieve more grip at the rear end.

The bike slides quite a bit but, as I turn more, I can lift it more easily when leaving the corners, and I’m gradually gaining confidence in it. Today I looked for a consistent pace, and I also tried to modify my lines, braking quite a lot and getting on the gas early, unlike the 125, where I let it run more.

We improved on our time from yesterday. Today has been a very positive day and I’m happy. I’m a bit tired but satisfied. The Moto2 is bigger and more comfortable, and little by little I’m getting used to it.

Statements from Toni Elías:

We also used today to get to know the bike. We didn’t make progress in terms of lap times, but we gathered a great deal of information that will be useful tomorrow. With all the data we will try to clarify the direction of the work to follow.

Our objective in these sessions is to understand the bike, get used to it, and little by little regain the Moto2 concept, so we can go fast again in this category.

Today I also completed a huge number of laps and we tried loads of things, basically regarding the chassis. Tomorrow we will keep working to draw more conclusions.
