Day 1 of MotoGP test at the Motorland Aragón Circuit
The first test day at the Motorland Aragón Circuit was very productive for the five riders who took part, with Pedrosa the fastest and Lorenzo 2nd, both trying out new developments on their respective bikes.
Today saw the first test day of the MotoGP World Championship take place at the Motorland Aragón Circuit, with Dani Pedrosa, Stefan Bradl, Jorge Lorenzo, Ben Spies and Jonathan Rea, so there was plenty of action on the Aragón track during these pre-race tests ahead of the race at the Misano Marco Simoncelli circuit. The five riders had the World Championship track at their disposal to get their respective bikes set up.
For now, the fastest man in the tests has been Dani Pedrosa, who closed out this first day with a lap time of 1:47.983, bettering the time set by his teammate Casey Stoner with the 800cc bike last season. Pedrosa managed to put in a great time after 35 laps of the Motorland Aragón track, with a lot of work from his mechanics team and testing several more developments, including possible improvements to stop the chattering seen in recent races.
Behind Pedrosa is the current leader of the premier class, Jorge Lorenzo, who closed this first day with a time of 1:48.471, working hard on his developments and on the chassis to achieve improvements heading into the end of this season and also for next year. They are sure to have found some interesting aspects on this day, although there is still a lot to do tomorrow on the M1. Today he completed 15 laps and spoke mainly with his team; everyone is working together on the improvements.
Following the MotoGP favourites are Ben Spies, with a time of 1:48.647, not far off the time set by his Yamaha team leader, and after 31 laps, the rider who has done the most laps on track, so the 11 is hard at work trying to improve the setup of his Yamaha for the remaining races. Rounding out the times are Stefan Bradl with his Honda satellite bike, setting a time of 1:49.570 over 26 laps of the track. And finally, Casey Stoner’s replacement, Rea, who closes with 69 laps of the track and a time of 1:50.679, with plenty to improve tomorrow.
