The MotoGP World Championship was the last to hit the track in Austria for this second race at this venue of the 2021 season, so expectation was at its maximum, with the Ducatis looking very strong.

The start was good for Jorge Martín, who came off the line like a whirlwind, while Quartararo had a touch of contact and went off track, losing several positions. Before the first lap was over, we already saw Bagnaia showing his factory Ducati and taking the lead.

Pecco Bagnaia Motogp

With 25 laps to go, Bagnaia was leading, followed by Zarco and Marc Márquez, while Martín was 4th and ahead of Quartararo, so a very intense group at the front of the race.

A leading group of five riders formed: Bagnaia, Martín, Marc Márquez, Johann Zarco and Quartararo. As the laps went by, the action stalled, with Bagnaia leading and keeping his distance from Quartararo and Marc Márquez.

With 10 laps left to go, we saw Zarco crash, a shame for the Frenchman, who was putting in a great performance. Right after that, we saw a mistake from Quartararo, which Marc took advantage of to overtake him and get on Bagnaia’s tail.

The rain was getting stronger all the time, and some riders pitted to change bikes, among them Miller and Rins. Meanwhile, Marc took the lead with 4 laps to go, and right after that, all the leading riders pitted to change bikes.

Binder moved into 1st on slicks, pushing hard through every corner and every section of the circuit, while behind him the riders who had changed bikes were coming through. But with 2 laps to go, Marc crashed, leaving Bagnaia attacking alone, but unable to catch Brad Binder.

So the win went to Binder, the bravest of the slicks, followed by Bagnaia and Martín. The top 10 was completed by Mir, Marini, Lecuona, Quartararo, Rossi, Alex Márquez and Aleix Espargaró. With this result, Quartararo remains the leader with 181 points, followed by Bagnaia and Mir, 47 points behind.

On to the next race.
