Andrea Iannone is the best in the MotoGP private test at Jerez

Rider Andrea Iannone was the fastest in the 2018 MotoGP World Championship pre-season test at the Jerez Circuit, where they shared the track with several riders and teams from the World Superbike Championship, so expectation was at its maximum on the Andalusian circuit.

Iannone was the fastest in the private test after the close of the session, setting a time of 1:38.030. Only four teams from the premier class of motorcycle racing were on track, so not much could be compared in this pre-season test.

At Team Suzuki Ecstar, Alex Rins tested a new chassis for 2018 on the second day. On the last day he tested the 2017 one in order to see the differences. Iannone focused his work on the evolution of the 2018 engine. Sylvain Guintoli also went out on track.

The third place went to Pol Espargaró, who confirmed his great feelings from the three days of testing. Red Bull KTM Factory Team continued with the same work as on the first day of testing: chassis, new swingarms, electronic improvements, among other options. They were very pleased with the tests carried out and with the evolution the bike has had in its first year. Bradley Smith finished 8th on the circuit.

Danilo Petrucci was the day’s scare: the Italian crashed at Turn 8, which disrupted the plans of Octo Pramac Racing. While Jack Miller continued with his work, Danilo Petrucci was scheduled to test several modifications of the Ducati Team, with Jorge Lorenzo’s fairing.

While the main objective of Aprilia Racing Team Gresini is for Scott Redding to gain confidence with the bike and find a good rhythm with it. The premier class, except for Yamaha which will ride in Malaysia in a private test, runs until January 28 with the official test at Sepang.
