"Without reward": Dani Pedrosa's blog after the race in Brno
Rider Dani Pedrosa has just written on his personal Repsol blog, in which he commented on the Czech Republic Grand Prix race, and as he himself titles it, a quote “Without reward”.
The Czech Republic Grand Prix gave us an almost perfect weekend, except that the final reward was missing.
Everyone undoubtedly considered him one of the favourites given the pace he showed in all the practice sessions at Brno, but Sunday’s crash left him without reward for all that great work.
Sunday’s crash prevented us from fighting for the victory after having enjoyed some very good days.
From Friday I had a very good ‘feeling’ with the bike, and I felt very good physically after the summer break.
About the crash, he isn’t very clear about what happened. It was strange, but as he says, these things happen, although from my point of view the cold tyre is probably the main explanation for the crash.
The truth is that the crash was a bit strange. I wasn’t riding beyond the limit nor did I do anything special that I don’t do in other races, but these things happen. As they say, that’s racing, and if I’ve learned one thing this year it’s that you have to take these moments with philosophy.
Moreover, if we look at the Grand Prix as a whole, we are satisfied with Brno: throughout the weekend we were very competitive and kept setting the best times. Both the bike and the team were perfect.
Luckily, Pedrosa is a positive rider, and he is drawing out the good side of everything, including the race in Brno, and another aspect that the 26 wanted to highlight from this event at the Czech track is that he felt much better on the bike.
Another positive aspect of the weekend was that after the World Championship break I felt much better on the bike.
The rest weeks helped me a lot to recover from the shoulder injury, and during Friday and Saturday I felt much better riding, although since I barely competed in the race, I still can’t draw definitive conclusions.
He also spoke about his RC213V, which he tested yesterday in Brno, together with his teammate Casey Stoner, and other MotoGP World Championship riders who stayed on testing their own equipment.
As you know, yesterday I tested next year’s bike. I was really looking forward to getting on it, since I missed the Jerez tests because of the injury. The first impressions were good, although logically there is still a lot of work to do.
These are only the first contacts with the bike, but these sessions are very important so that we riders can give our opinion and contribute ideas to, all together, define the direction in which the development work on this new bike has to go.
Now we have to wait a week before the Indianapolis Grand Prix, so keep training and gathering strength for the 12th MotoGP round.
And now comes another week of rest before travelling, next Wednesday, to the United States.
We cross the pond again, this time to go to Indianapolis, a classic circuit there, where there is also a very nice atmosphere, so racing there is always special.
