The Sito Pons Moto2 team has wrapped up two very interesting days of action and training at the Almería Circuit, where its two riders, Maverick Viñales and Luis Salom, have continued adapting to the category and also to their machines.

This test marked the start of track action and testing after the winter break, so everything is ready for the start of the 2014 season in the intermediate class, where both riders arrive as rookies after leaving the Moto3 category behind.

The two riders have been at the controls of their Kalex machines, preparing what will be a 2014 season of pure excitement. Salom and Viñales have arrived in very good shape, as a result of the specific work they included in their physical preparation to also adapt their bodies to the demands of the Kalex compared with the bikes they had ridden until now in the Moto3 category. Rider 40 completed a total of 155 laps of the track, while Mallorcan Salom completed 110.

Statements from Maverick Viñales:

I am very satisfied with how these two days of training have gone. I was really eager to get back on my Kalex. This winter has been far too long, but we used it to prepare physically well and be ready for the start of the season in Qatar. Things have gone pretty well here, and now it’s time to rest over the weekend so that on Tuesday we can get back on the bikes in Valencia and continue the adaptation process to the new category.

Statements from Luis Salom:

It’s been two very positive days, I think I’ve improved a lot. The two crashes slowed me down a little, but I think my progression is very good and so are my lap times. I’m happy to head to the first IRTA test of the year. Honestly, the team is helping me a great deal and supporting me well to improve every time I go out on track. This is very important because without them I wouldn’t be able to improve on this bike, which is very different from the Moto3 and quite a bit more complicated.
