Rider Toni Bou has everything in his favour to claim a new Spanish Trial Champion title, as the multiple world champion won this weekend’s fourth and penultimate scoring round, held in the Galician town of Baiona.
Unbeaten in this edition of the championship, with this fourth win Toni Bou only needs to add four points – the score awarded to the twelfth-placed finisher – at the next round to add yet another title to his impressive record.
The Piera native once again showed his excellent form and legendary motivation, scoring the best marks in both sections of this trial. The early sections presented a good technical level due to the humidity, and as the event progressed, the terrain dried out and the difficulty of the obstacles eased. Second place at this round went to Jeroni Fajardo, while Adam Raga completed the podium. In the overall standings, Bou leads with 80 points, followed by Raga with 64 points and Cabestany in third with 58 points.
The fifth and final round of the Spanish Championship will be the Cal Rosal Trial, which will take place on 11 November in the Barcelona town of Olvan.
Statements from Toni Bou:
It was a perfect day. I felt very good on the bike, I won, and the final result has put me just four points away from the title. After such an intense World Championship and having won the first three rounds of this one, my situation today allowed me to stay calm. Now all that’s left is to finish strong at the next round and close the season in the best possible way.
