Tommy Hill wins race 1 of the BSB at Cadwell Park
The first race of the British Superbike Championship at Cadwell Park has been won by Tommy Hill, followed by Lowes and Laverty.
Rider Tommy Hill has taken victory in race 1 of the British Superbike Championship at Cadwell Park, undoubtedly one of the most anticipated races for its spectacle, especially through the “mountain” section where all the bikes take off, producing incredible images.
The champion got off to a very good start: Hill quickly moved into first place, while pole-sitter Alex Lowes had a poor getaway and lost positions, leaving Michael Laverty right behind Hill. Laverty went on to pass Tommy and dominated for some laps, but Hill knew exactly what he was looking for: the moment to pass and pull away.
After passing Laverty, Hill opened the throttle, and seeing this, Lowes was not willing to fall behind. He overtook Laverty and stayed glued to Tommy for many laps, but ultimately watched the Swan Yamaha rider pull away, shifting all the race’s excitement to the battles for top-ten positions between Kirkham, Buchan and a large group of riders.
In this way Hill took the win, followed by Lowes and Laverty on the podium, while Buchan finished 4th, Kirkham 5th, Brookes 6th after a great comeback, Harris 7th, Westmoreland 8th, Bridewell 9th and Hickman 10th.
Several big names were missing from this round, since Shane Byrne and Noriyuki Haga were injured during practice and could not take part in this BSB round at Cadwell Park.
With this result, the championship standings have Hill leading with 291 points, followed by Brookes and Byrne with 255 points each, so the champion is going for everything.
The second race is coming up soon, don’t miss it.
