The Spanish ISDE 2011 coach gives a positive assessment of the 2nd place

The Spanish coach of the International Six Days Enduro (ISDE) 2011 team, Josep Alonso, gives a positive assessment after the event in Finland, where the team secured second place overall.

Spanish enduro shone once again at this year’s ISDE, held over the past week in Finland, with the runner-up finish in this competition, considered the world championship of national teams in this off-road motorcycling discipline.

Spain has confirmed its place among the leading powers of international enduro and, given the youth of the members of the Spanish squad, the future looks very promising in the pursuit of new achievements.

For Josep Alonso, national coach, the outcome of the ISDE in Finland should be considered entirely positive, both for the result achieved and for the attitude of all the team members.

Statements from Josep Alonso:

The truth is we couldn’t be happier. Finishing second here behind the Finns is almost like a victory.
It is a very difficult terrain, and our goal was to finish as high as possible, and we achieved it.

We must highlight the great work of the riders and of the entire team, who responded perfectly at all times. Furthermore, our riders are young and have a great future ahead of them and enormous potential.

So, despite the absence of the senior team at the last ISDE held in Mexico, Spain maintains its presence on the podium of this competition, where the junior team made up of Oriol Mena, Lorenzo Santolino, Victor Guerrero and Mario Román won the Junior Trophy in 2009 and 2010, and which this year, together with Iván Cervantes and Cristóbal Guerrero, placed second in the Senior Trophy.
