Sito Pons’ team unveiled at the Jerez Circuit the colours with which it will compete in the 2014 Moto2 World Championship, a season full of changes, with two new riders, two rookies who will push to the limit in every race: Luis Salom and Maverick Viñales.
Coinciding with the start of the IRTA test sessions taking place this week at the Jerez Circuit, the team of two-time world champion Sito Pons has revealed the colours with which the squad will compete this season, which begins in nine days at the Qatari circuit of Losail.
Pons HP 40, after winning last season’s world title with Pol Espargaró as well as the team world championship, is starting a new project with Maverick Viñales and Luis Salom, two young riders who have shown tremendous talent and fantastic potential. Both riders have adapted very quickly to the new category and are looking forward to the first race of the year with great enthusiasm.
Statements from Maverick Viñales:
I am very motivated to be in the team I am in. I feel very comfortable here and every day we are working one hundred percent. I want to thank the sponsors who are placing their trust in us this season. I really like the new design of the bike. Whenever I have worn blue I have achieved good results. I hope this season runs smoothly and we can reach the goals we have set ourselves.
Statements from Luis Salom:
I am very happy to be in this team. This is a very important opportunity for me. I feel very at ease working with my technical team. There are still three days of testing left before we arrive in Qatar, but I think we have done good work throughout this pre-season, which lets us arrive confident at the first race even though we are new to the Moto2 category, which is quite demanding. I really like the design of the bike; I think the Kalexes look beautiful.
