The Moto2 and Moto3 World Championship is in full swing at the 2014 pre-season test at the Jerez Circuit, where the fastest riders on this second day were Nakagami in Moto2 and Miller in Moto3, without a doubt another day full of hard work, set-up tweaks, and a few scares for several riders.
In the Moto3 class, the first session of the day belonged to Jack Miller with a time of 1:46.727, the only rider in the class to dip below 1:46.5, while behind him Oliveira was 0.338s back and Kornfeil was 0.464s off the leading pair. The next session, the second of the day, went to Danny Kent with a time of 1:46.809. That meant more riders under 1:46.5, but nobody managed to beat the time Miller had set in the morning’s first session. Behind Kent, Oettl was 0.158s off the top, followed by Kornfeil 0.283s back but now above 1:47.
For his part, the final session went to Jack Miller with a time of 1:46.259, leaving Viñales in second place, 0.292s behind. In the combined times from all three sessions, Jack Miller was the fastest, with his time set in the last session at the Andalusian track. Viñales was second at 0.292s, and the top 10 was completed by Kent in 3rd, Kornfeil 4th, Vázquez 5th, Oettl 6th, Guevara 7th, Oliveira 8th, Bagnaia 9th and Rins 10th.
In the Moto2 class, the best in the first session was Sandro Cortese, with a time of 1:42.692, while Nakagami was right behind the German, just 0.062s back. In the second training session at Jerez, Thomas Luthi took the top spot with a time of 1:42.562, faster than the time Cortese had set in the morning’s first session, with Nakagami again just 0.050s behind, so there was very close competition at the front.
For his part, the final session went to Nakagami, who set a time of 1:42.547, followed by Zarco 0.294s back. In the combined Moto2 standings, the fastest rider of the day was Nakagami with the time he set in the last session of the day at the Andalusian track. Thomas Luthi was second, 0.015s behind, and the top 10 was completed by Cortese 3rd, Zarco 4th, Salom 5th, Corsi 6th, Simeon 7th, Aegerter 8th, De Angelis 9th and Pons 10th. The rest of our riders were Simón 11th, Viñales 14th, Ramos 23rd and Cardús 26th.
