With the conclusion of this test at the Andalusian track, the training sessions at European circuits are considered finished, paving the way for the official test scheduled at Phillip Island ahead of the start of the season. Anticipation is at its peak, as the 2014 SBK season is approaching and brings many new features, including the EVO machines.
Over two days of track action, rain and occasional wind affected lap times, but both riders made noticeable progress, reaching 1’42 when track conditions improved, although some sections of the layout had still not dried completely even during the second day of training. On the first day the track was wet from the start and dried slowly as the day went on, which allowed the Ninja ZX-10R riders to work on their setup for these conditions. The second day also began with a wet track, but again it improved little by little so the work programme could continue.
For his part, David Salom drew very positive conclusions from his wet-weather training, as his technical team made numerous changes to his machine to adapt it to the rain and also to ride on a track that was practically dry.
The SBKs are heading toward the start of action at Phillip Island.
