Simoncelli will start from the front row of the grid at Phillip Island
The San Carlo Honda Gresini team has its top performer in Marco Simoncelli, who has achieved one of the best qualifying results of the entire season in Australia.
The San Carlo Honda Gresini MotoGP rider, Marco Simoncelli, will start from the front row tomorrow, having qualified third in a session marked by cold and wind.
Super Sic has to fight against Casey Stoner and Jorge Lorenzo to get past the first corner first and lead the race toward victory. It’s going to be tough to take it, we’ve already seen how the Australian rides here.
Teammate Hiroshi Aoyama had a crash, which reduced his qualifying time; he will start twelfth on the grid tomorrow.
Marco Simoncelli (#58) (3rd)
I’m very happy because it had been some time since I started from the front row. We were faster the previous two days, although we also had some crashes. The day hadn’t started well because of the conditions; it was cold and windy, and everything was very difficult.
This afternoon I fought to do a better job and achieved an excellent qualifying session. My goal for tomorrow is to push to the maximum from the start. Stoner looks untouchable for now, but in the race you never know!
Hiroshi Aoyama (#7) (12th)
Unfortunately, when I tried to improve the position I had on the grid, I crashed at turn six and the whole session was compromised. It was a fairly violent impact, and I decided not to go out again because I didn’t feel in the best shape.
The cold and wind didn’t help us work the way we wanted today, but despite everything I had more confidence than yesterday, since the set-up wasn’t bad. I hope the weather improves tomorrow so we can have a good Grand Prix.
