Sergio García wins the Moto3 World Championship race in Austria
Rider Sergio García has secured victory in the Moto3 World Championship at the Austrian Circuit, with Oncu 2nd and Foggia 3rd

The Moto3 World Championship was the first to hit the Austrian Circuit for this weekend’s race at the Spielberg track, so expectation is at its peak for this second round at the same venue.
The start was good for pole-sitter Romano Fenati, but behind him the very young Deniz Oncu was pushing hard, passing the veteran Italian rider to take the lead and try to break away from the pack. Meanwhile we watched Migno crash on the second lap of the race. With 21 laps to go, Pedro Acosta took over the lead, but with such a large group chasing him it is almost impossible to hold position.
As the laps went by, there were many changes at the front with a group of six riders forming slightly ahead of the rest, including Masia, who with 14 laps to go moved into the race lead, but it didn’t last long as the group kept swapping places.
With 9 laps to go, Oncu tried to break away, raised the pace and tried to take advantage of the battle between his rivals to go solo. He didn’t manage it on that occasion, but with 2 laps to go he tried again, taking advantage of all the chaos in the chasing group.
Finally, on a heart-stopping last lap we saw Sergio García’s experience pay off, as he took victory on the 11 at the Austrian track by just 0.027s over second-placed Deniz Oncu, while Foggia closed out the podium after overtaking Pedro Acosta in the final stretch of the race. The top 10 was completed by Acosta, Fenati, Masia, Mcphee, Guevara, Binder and Toba. With this result, Acosta remains leader with 196 points, followed by Sergio García 41 points behind.
On to the next race.
