Scott Redding has been the fastest in the Moto2 FP3 at Indy

The British rider of the Marc VDS Racing Team has set the best time of the American morning at the Indianapolis circuit, with a spectacular 1:44.805, beating Márquez and Bradl, and being the only one to have run a 44.

The truth is that the session was not very eventful. It was clear that all the riders were more adapted to the Indianapolis asphalt, since as the sessions go by, you can tell there is more rubber on the track, and logically, more grip.

During the first laps we saw a fierce battle for the best time between Redding, Krummenacher and Corsi, running several laps in 46 mediums, which showed that the track was improving session after session, until Smith gave them a second and set a 45.6.

Aleix Espargaró is still affected by the problem with the vertebrae that were detected in Brno, caused by an old injury, and on top of that he has come from the mini-holidays he took after the Czech race with a small cold, which did not stop him from getting angry with Cardús and Rabat after seeing them on his wheel looking for times.

He only came alive in the final minutes when Márquez, Redding, Pirro and Krummenacher decided to push and swapped first position over the last five minutes, at which point Di Meglio crashed just before Bradl, who ran over the sheet-metal kerb of the oval and left his Kalex in the middle of the track, ending his session.

The rest of the Spanish riders finished the session with mixed luck. Julian Simón 8th and Tito Rabat finished 11th, Aleix Espargaró 12th, his brother Pol 15th and Ricardo Cardús 24th. Jordi Torres, who celebrates his birthday today, finished 28th, and his CEV teammate but rival here, Carmelo Morales, 31st. The one who did not have a good session in his home race was Kenny Noyes, who could not get past 33rd, almost 3 seconds off Redding’s pole.
