RACC Motor Sport Awards Gala 2013

These days are about tribute, awards and further recognition, and on this occasion it is the RACC that has presented its RACC MotorSport Awards to the riders who stood out over the course of the 2013 season, an event that usually puts the finishing touch on the annual sporting season.

These days are about tribute, awards and further recognition, and on this occasion it is the RACC that has presented its RACC MotorSport Awards to the riders who stood out over the course of the 2013 season, an event that usually puts the finishing touch on the annual sporting season and is attended by the reigning champions of each discipline, both national and international.

On two wheels the guest list was very long, since the 2013 motorcycling season has once again been magical, so many well-known riders attended the event, although others had to be absent due to prior commitments, such as Pol and Aleix Espargaró, and others such as Jorge Lorenzo due to his time in the operating room.

The first to receive the “RACC Trophy” for their international successes was, on this occasion, Laia Sanz, for having been crowned World Enduro Champion this year (her second title in this discipline) and for the thirteenth time World Trial Champion. Pol Espargaró would then have taken his turn, but he could not collect his “RACC Trophy” as Moto2 World Champion, as he was in Ávila.

The biggest ovation was earned by Marc Márquez, MotoGP World Champion in his debut year in the premier class. The rider from Cervera was outstanding both in his speeches and in his thanks to the RACC, the club that has seen him grow and mature as a rider and that has always helped him since his beginnings in the world of two wheels. There was also another “Special Mention” for Àlex Rins, Moto3 World Runner-up. The “Rookie of the Year” Trophy went to Álex Márquez, awarded for his Moto3 campaign.

As could not be otherwise, Carlos Checa received one of the warmest rounds of applause from all the attendees, who paid tribute to him for his 20 years in elite competition and his great record, in the year the Catalan has left competition.

Nor were the young stars forgotten, such as Miquel Parra, for winning the Mediterranean and Catalan Speed Championship ; Aaron Canet for being Pre-Moto3 Spanish Cup Champion, and Fabio Quartararo for his overall victory in the Spanish Moto3 championship.

Great names at a unique gala.
