Quartararo, Gutiérrez and Masia the best of the Challenge 80cc at Catalunya

Yesterday the four races of the Mediterranean Speed Championship were held at the Circuit de Catalunya, as part of the third round of the competition calendar.

The morning began with the Challenge 80cc category race, in which Fabio Quartararo has shown great strength throughout the weekend at the Catalan track, although he did not have it easy either, facing tough rivals such as Masia and Gutiérrez.

Masia took the lead right after the start, but it did not take long for the championship leader, Quartararo, to catch him. From that point he began to open a gap over the rest of the riders and went on alone, leaving the other participants with no chance to fight for the victory.

So attention turned to the battle for second place between Gutiérrez and Masia; but a small mistake by the MC Carlet rider left him with few options, while Gutiérrez secured second position.

Therefore, the podium went to Quartararo in 1st place, thus increasing his lead in the standings, followed by Gutiérrez in second and Masia in third, without a doubt the three favourites for the championship.
