Photo gallery of the 5th CEV round in Albacete
Here is a selection of the ones I personally consider the best photos I took this past weekend at the CEV in Albacete
The fifth round of the Spanish Speed Championship took place last weekend at the Albacete circuit. On this occasion, the Kawasaki Ninja Cup joined in, which did not race at the previous round also held in Albacete.
After practice sessions dominated by Alex Rins in 125GP/Moto3, Carmelo Morales in Moto2, Iván Silva in Stock Extreme and Adrià Araujo in the Ninja Cup, everything was set for a good day of racing.
The first race was Moto2, in which the riders of the LaGlisse team, Jordi Torres and Carmelo Morales broke away, although due to their injuries they did so with less ease. The race was ended early, since with two laps to go, a multiple crash left oil on the track, with Iván Moreno the most affected, fracturing a rib and damaging his scaphoid.
In 125GP/Moto3, we saw the debut of the first 4-stroke Moto3, the category that will replace the small 125cc bikes from next year. The Catalunya Caixa riders had no luck, as Rins, who had pole, failed to start his bike and Márquez crashed on the first lap. Although the one who saved the day was Bagnaia, who thus achieved his first victory in the CEV.
The Ninja Cup race was extremely hard-fought right up to the last lap. The fact that all the bikes are exactly the same means that until the end nobody knows who will win. This time Araujo took the win, but the championship fight remains wide open.
And in Stock Extreme, Iván Silva dominated the race from start to finish, despite a very poor start. Santi Barragán could not keep up with him and ceded the lead by 4 points. Third place went to Del Amor, quite an achievement considering he had just undergone surgery on his collarbone after the crash he had suffered the previous week.
