Pedrosa and Márquez test the Honda MotoGP 2016

The riders Marc Márquez and Dani Pedrosa yesterday tested the new Honda prototype for the 2016 season of the top category of the world championship at the Marco Simoncelli Misano Circuit. The two riders from the Japanese brand continue working on their current bike, their future bike, and today with the new tyre brand for the next season.

Both riders have spent more time riding the Honda RC213V 2015 to improve its base setup, although they have also had time to get positive feelings from the new 2016 prototype. Specifically, Márquez completed a total of 86 laps with a best time of 1:32.00.

For his part, Pedrosa completed 71 laps with a best lap time of 1:32.66. Today will be the last test day, and the two riders of the Repsol Honda team will focus on the new tyre supplier for 2016 to work on the setup of their machines, adapting them as best they can.

Statements from Marc Márquez:

I am happy with these two days of training. We have done good work on the setup and now I feel more comfortable. Especially this morning when temperatures were a little lower, we were able to find something that improved my feeling; now we have to see if it will work at the next circuits. I have also tested the 2016 prototype and found positive aspects, but we will go out again with this bike tomorrow and with next year’s tyres, to give more data to the HRC engineers so they can work with them.

This afternoon the track temperature was very high, but despite these conditions, I am happy with the pace. I want to thank HRC and my team for the good work they have done. Tomorrow will be another day of hard work and then some well-deserved days off.

It has been two tough but productive test days. We are happy, because we were able to work on the current bike to find a setup that can be used for the upcoming Grands Prix. It was very hard work because the temperature was very high, but I am happy. I also did a couple of runs with the 2016 prototype. It is important to give the engineers feedback on the direction we want to go. Tomorrow we will test it again with next year’s tyres.
