Nicolo Castellini takes pole in the Rookies Cup at Sachsenring
Rider Nicolo Castellini has taken pole position in the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup at the Sachsenring Circuit.
Rider Nicolo Castellini has taken pole position in the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup at this weekend’s event at the Sachsenring Circuit, so the rider made the most of the track conditions, which were very difficult due to the rain, and set the best lap time at the German track.
The first official Red Bull practice session was very difficult because of the rain and the state of the track, but it could be completed, whereas the second official practice session had to be cancelled for safety reasons, and the QP1 times became the official grid times for Sachsenring.
The second place went to Willi Albert, the home rider gave everything on his own track, in his own circuit and in front of his own fans. Although he finished in second place, he was well over six tenths behind the leader, so they will have to push hard at the start. In the top 3 we have one of our own, Jorge Martín, who looked very comfortable in these conditions and secured third place, more than six tenths behind, but close to the second-placed rider.
Although Martín was not the only one to stand out in the Rookies qualifying, Aaron España finished 4th, which is a great result for our representative, who is already more than a second behind the leader. The top 5 is Kyle Ride, and the top 10 is Hankia 6th, Deroue 7th, Baldassarri 8th, Oettl 9th and Ray 10th.
Our two other representatives had more problems, especially Marcos Ramírez, who ran into complications, but he will surely be able to sort it out in the race. For now, he will start from 17th place, while Diego Pérez also had an off day and will start from 24th.
The first race is at 16:30 today, while the second race will be on Sunday at 15:50.
The Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup is an interesting series.
