MotoGP: Barberá loses FP2 in Aragón
Héctor Barberá, MotoGP rider, despite losing FP2, looks set to have plenty of chances to achieve a good result at Motorland Aragón.
We have all heard what happened at the Aragón GP during the morning, where power supply problems occurred several times, but finally, just as the second 125cc free practice session ended, a failure caused the race direction and pit lights to go out.
As a result, the second free practice session had to be cancelled.
Héctor Barberá was left with unfinished work. During FP1 and FP2, riders are responsible for setting up the bike for the race and, if time allows, starting to look at things for qualifying. Cancelling a session removes many hours of work that cannot be made up by extending FP3.
Barberá in particular suffered an electronics problem on his bike during the first session and was only able to complete thirteen laps. As a result, the team is well behind on setup, but Héctor feels very confident heading into the weekend.
Héctor Barberá (#8) (12th 1:52.016)
It has been a rather strange day, because without the second session you feel like you’re only halfway there. But this morning’s free practice was productive. I couldn’t complete many laps, but the ones I did were good. I was four tenths off seventh, but I couldn’t keep improving.
Today’s final position doesn’t worry me, because if we had had more time I’m sure I would have improved. I really enjoy riding at this track, and it suits my style and the Ducati well, so I’m just focused on continuing to work tomorrow and that’s that.
This afternoon we had planned some small modifications that we couldn’t carry out, but we will do them tomorrow. I’m sure they’ll work well.
