Márquez the fastest again in MotoGP Austin test
Rider Marc Márquez has once again been the fastest on this second day of private testing at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin. Without a doubt, the MotoGP riders still have a lot to learn about this track, but the 93 has found the feeling, followed closely by his teammate Pedrosa and by Lorenzo.
The second day of private testing for some teams of the MotoGP World Championship at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin has ended with Marc Márquez still riding very strongly, and it seems he has adapted perfectly to the circuit-Honda combination. The 93 therefore remains the reference in this test, on a new track for the 2013 calendar.
After the first day, when we saw Marc as the fastest, on this second day we have been able to confirm that the 93 is still strong, and he managed to set a lap time of 2:03.853 after 54 laps, improving by 0.766s the time he had set on the first day. So the HRC rider is going very fast on this track, which, according to what the riders there are saying, seems to favour the golden-wing machines.
Second place went once again to Pedrosa. The Catalan waited until the very last moment to lower his lap times and in the end finished just over a tenth behind the 93’s time, on a day full of hard work and set-up work, step by step for the 26, setting a 2:03.976, managing to cut more than a second from the mark he set on the first day. The top three was again completed by Jorge Lorenzo, the Mallorcan who will not be present tomorrow on the final day of testing. Like his teammate Rossi, he made the most of it with 65 laps on his record, and with a time of 2:04.351, shaving almost a second off the time he himself set on Tuesday.
Behind them, Stefan Bradl was 4th with a time of 2:04.640 and 49 laps; while the last MotoGP position went to Rossi with 67 laps on this last day for him, and a lap time of 2:04.960. Young and Barnes were also present, but with times far off the pace on their respective CRT bikes.
Tomorrow will be the last day of testing for MotoGP in Austin, although the Yamaha boys closed the pre-season tests today, and shortly everyone will be heading to Jerez.
