This weekend, MotoGP World Championship rider Marc Márquez will reach an important milestone: 100 Grand Prix races. The reigning MotoGP world champion and current dominant force in the category is set to celebrate in style and, on top of that, will have the chance to enjoy it at home, in front of his fans, at a Jerez circuit that will be ready to welcome the entire World Motorcycle Championship.
Márquez made his World Motorcycle Championship debut on April 13, 2008, after missing two races due to an injury. The little 93 entered the 125cc category with Repsol at the Portuguese Grand Prix. He quickly adapted to the competition and managed to reach the podium in the small-displacement class at the British Grand Prix that same year of his debut, setting the first records at just 15 years old.
But it wasn’t until the 2010 season that we saw Márquez’s first victory, after which he picked up a brutal pace in every category he competed in, which has so far led him to win three World Titles and enter all the history books. Since that first triumph, Marc Márquez has won more than half of the races he has entered (35 out of 67) and has seen his name consistently placed alongside legends such as Agostini, Doohan, Rossi, and Spencer.
This Sunday in Jerez, the rider for the Repsol team Honda will complete his first hundred races. So congratulations to the 93, to Marc Márquez.
