Marc Coma goes all out at the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge
Rider Marc Coma faces the first round of the FIM World Rally-Raid Championship in Abu Dhabi from Sunday, 1 April, where he has been the big winner in recent years, although now he will seek yet another victory with his KTM 450.
Rider Marc Coma is preparing for the World Rally-Raid Championship round that will take place shortly, the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge, an event in which the Repsol rider is a true expert, having won it on five occasions. He is without a doubt one of the favourites and will give his all in this edition.
So between 1 and 6 April there will be plenty of action in the World Rally-Raid Championship, with the Cross Country championship kicking off in Abu Dhabi, in the legendary event where Coma is the great reference, having won the last three editions. Ahead of him lie more than two thousand kilometres, 1,520 km of them timed, in search of yet another triumph.
The first round will be the prologue, next Sunday afternoon. After that first stage, the first of the five stages scheduled for Monday will begin. They will be extreme, demanding and very interesting, with many rivals on the sand and in the dunes.
Five days of competition in which every kilometre counts, in an event where mistakes can hardly be recovered, and whose special stage will be toughest in the fourth stage, the longest of the rally, with more than 500 kilometres, 318 of them timed. Coma will undoubtedly give a run for their money with his KTM 450 Rally, but one never knows what can happen in the desert.
Statements from Marc Coma:
It has been more than two months since the Dakar, and we have been able to rest a little and prepare for the race, so I am already eager to start and, once again, very excited. The Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge is always a very demanding event, above all because of the temperatures, above 40 ºC, and because no mistakes can be made.
It is a short event, of great intensity, and in which it is very important not to make mistakes, because afterwards there is no time to recover them. Furthermore, practically all the important riders from the Dakar will be there, so it will be important to compete well day after day.
