Luca Marini wins the Moto2 World Championship race at the Misano Circuit, with Bezzecchi 2nd and Bastianini 3rd
The Moto2 World Championship has been the next to hit the Misano Circuit for the race in San Marino, undoubtedly with maximum expectation to see the Italian riders on one of their most iconic circuits, and with the start from the pitlane due to a penalty for pole sitter Sam Lowes.
The start was very good for Marini, followed closely by Bezzecchi, with Bastianini also glued to his wheel, but all the excitement focused on the fight between Marco and Enea, while the teammates pulled away alone to battle for victory, leaving Schrotter and Bastianini half a second behind them.
As the laps went by, Marini managed to open a small gap over Bezzecchi, and they kept their distance from Bastianini, while Héctor Garzó’s crash at turn 3 was confirmed. For his part, Vierge pushed with everything and managed to overtake his rivals, up to fourth place and putting Bastianini in serious trouble.
Marini has continued to impose his pace, but Bezzecchi has managed to close in to within 0.8s, cutting into the gap in the final corners. With 8 laps to go, Marini made a mistake and went straight on at turn 14, which allowed Marco to take the lead of the race. With 5 laps to go, we saw Marini overtaking Bezzecchi again, breaking his rhythm once more.
Finally, victory for Marini, while Bezzecchi had to hold off Bastianini’s attacks until the end, finishing 2nd and 3rd respectively. The top 10 was completed by Vierge 4th, Fernández 5th, Luthi 6th, Di Giannantonio 7th, Lowes 8th, Canet 9th and Roberts 10th. With this result, Marini remains the leader with 17 more points than Bastianini.
