Lorenzo and Spies Stand Their Ground at MotoGP Germany
The Yamaha Factory Racing riders are eager to keep improving, with Lorenzo 3rd and Spies 10th in Friday's free practice.
The Yamaha Factory Racing riders arrive at the German Grand Prix very eager, especially Jorge Lorenzo after his DNF at the Assen Circuit, and on this first day he has been up front with the leading group that currently dominates MotoGP: Dani Pedrosa, Casey Stoner and himself.
Although it has been a complicated day at the German circuit, especially for the second free practice session, as it rained and made conditions difficult, in FP1 they were able to ride on a dry track, leaving the Mallorcan in third place with a lap time of 1’22.647 after 28 laps, hoping to build on these feelings and set a good time for qualifying.
For his part, Ben Spies set a lap time of 1’23.353, in 10th place after 40 laps. He has made a lot of progress but without going for a fast lap, and he has seen most riders post good times ahead of him. But yesterday was just free practice; today is when he has to deliver the rest.
Statements from Jorge Lorenzo:
I have more pain walking than riding the bike, which is a good thing and helps me. I’m not at 100% and I’m very tired, especially in my upper body, but I think we did a great job this morning and this afternoon.
The injury, which cost us points and engines, is very difficult for the Championship, but it gives me more confidence and motivation for the title, to keep working and come back strong to win.
