Lorenzo and Spies all out to win at Motorland Aragón
The Yamaha riders arrive at Motorland Aragón fully charged, especially Lorenzo, who comes off his win at the Misano circuit, and also from a great experience in the CER at the Circuit de Catalunya.
The MotoGP World Championship returns to the Motorland Aragón circuit this weekend for round 14 of the 2011 season. This will be the second visit of the World Championship to the Spanish circuit, and the third home race for the reigning World Champion, Jorge Lorenzo.
The Mallorcan arrives in Aragón with renewed confidence and maximum motivation, after his victory at Misano, and the subsequent triumph at the CER of the Circuit de Catalunya.
Lorenzo’s race last season started from second place and ended in fourth at the flag, a very tough event, and one in which he hopes to improve this year.
The Motorland Aragón circuit is one of the few on the calendar where the two Yamaha riders are even in terms of the number of times they have competed at the Alcañiz track, as both Lorenzo and Spies have only raced on that layout once, as have the rest of the participants.
Spies had a very intense race last season, as he had to fight very hard with Andrea Dovizioso for fifth place. Now it’s time to prepare for the five remaining races on the calendar and give 100% to score more points in the overall standings.
Statements from Jorge Lorenzo:
I am happy to ride at home again, and for the second time in Aragón.
I can’t wait to see all the fans there, and especially my Fan Club, which is on its way. Last year I couldn’t get on the podium, which was a shame. I wanted to achieve it because I was competing in Spain and the season had been perfect, and also because I wore Shoya’s helmet in his memory. We had a good race two weeks ago in Misano, and now we are confident of being able to get another podium; we believe we can reduce the gap to Casey again.
